(Dan Tri) – President Donald Trump signed an executive order banning all US transactions with ByteDance and Tecent – owners of two popular applications TikTok and WeChat after the next 45 days.

In an executive order signed on August 6, President Donald Trump said the TikTok application is used for disinformation campaigns to benefit China.
`The United States must take tough action against TikTok’s owners to protect our national security,` Mr. Trump stated in the order.
President Trump’s executive order bans all transactions by any individual or organization in the US with ByteDance – owner of the TikTok video application.
In another executive order, President Trump said WeChat `automatically collects huge amounts of user information.
A similar ban also applies to Tecent – the corporation that owns the WeChat messaging application.
In a statement released yesterday, the White House said `the proliferation of mobile applications owned and developed by Chinese companies in the United States continues to threaten national security, foreign policy and the US economy.`
President Trump earlier this week announced that he would give TikTok until September 15 to complete the transfer of operations in the US to Microsoft or this application will be completely banned in the US.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that the US will launch a campaign to prevent Chinese applications, as well as Chinese telecommunications companies, from accessing sensitive information about American businesses and people.
Both the US Senate and House of Representatives voted for a bill banning federal employees from using the TikTok app on government devices.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin yesterday stated that the US moves went against market principles and were not based on reality.
Both TikTok and its owner ByteDance have denied any connection to the Chinese government.
