Growing up in one of the richest families in the world certainly has many privileges that ordinary people don’t have and Jennifer Gates – eldest daughter of billionaire Bill Gates, is well aware of that.
Jenn (Jennifer’s nickname) shared with Sidelines magazine in a recent interview: `I was born with great privileges. I think it’s about using opportunities and learning to figure it out.`
Bill Gates, the student who co-founded Microsoft Corporation after dropping out of Harvard, became the richest person on the planet with $12.9 billion in 1995, a year before Jenn was born.
And Jenn planned to use her unique privilege to do good with a career in medicine.
Jenn said her parents’ jobs may have influenced her decision to become a doctor.
When Jenn was a child, Melinda even caught her `announcing` to one of her dolls that it had HIV.
Jenn is also an excellent horseback rider.
`They always supported me. When I was younger, they told me to pursue whatever I was interested in, whether it was math, science, reading or writing. I always felt like I really had a good foundation
Jenn calls her parents `extremely hardworking.`
In her Father’s Day Instagram post, Jenn wrote that not only her father’s philanthropic efforts but also his passion for learning were an inspiration.
At the New York Times DealBook event last November, Bill Gates admitted he relies on his children – Jennifer (24 years old), Rory (21 years old) and Phoebe (17 years old), to always stay calm and humble.
He likes to drive his children to school and tries to connect with each person via their favorite social network instead of via email as is his custom.
